If you follow me on Instagram you’ll know that last month I bought this beautiful mid-century style dresser second-hand on Varage Sale:
My new-to-me dresser was exactly what I was looking for. It was beautiful and stylish but…there was a…smell.
I tried all the things – vinegar, coffee grinds, charcoal, oder absorbers, Fabreze. The smell improved but alas, did not disappear.
Have you ever had this happen? I was so frustrated. I didn’t want to give up the dresser, but I also didn’t want my clothes to take on this particular funk. So, my solution? Bullseye 1-2-3 primer.
Yup. I primed the entire inside of the dresser and the dresser drawers.
The smell? G-O-N-E
Primer is not the most exciting thing to look at so I took the opportunity to use some chalk paint that CeCe Caldwell generously sent me to liven up the inside of the drawers. The colour is called Kailua Coral.
I painted the sides coral but left the bottoms unpainted and added some Con-Tact scented drawers liners (in clean cotton).
I’m happy to say the dresser is in place, funk-free and the pop of coral is really fun.
You may wonder why I’ve put such a beautiful dresser inside a closet…well…I have a plan although it might take a while to come to fruition. One of my DIY wish list projects – am I the only one with a DIY wish list?
