Guys, Can I just start by saying: renovation delays suck.
Yup, absolutely nothing has changed since my last reno update – not. one. thing. Why are we delayed? Cold air returns.
It turns out the wall we removed had not only a heat run, but also a cold air return for our second floor running through it. Our contractor was able to move the heating but we need some HVAC professionals to help with the cold air return (plus the main floor return that also has to move).
Those holes in the floor were for a cold air return that needs a new home
We’ve been delayed because a) we had to find some HVAC professionals and 2) I needed said professionals to agree to move the returns where I wanted them. Yes, I’m demanding.
Our current design situation = chaos
it took three visits and Chris and I opening up a wall and part of the subfloor before they agreed ?
Am I the only person who texts their HVAC guy annotated photos?
So…we’re on hold for a couple more days until the returns are dealt with, and then we’ll have to hustle to get some framing done so our electrician can come and deal with our collection of dangling wires.
In the meantime I’ve been gathering inspiration for a new dining table. Chris and I really like the idea of building our own out of reclaimed wood. It’s not a project we’re going to take on now (we’re crazy but not THAT crazy)…but maybe later this year.
These are my favourite styles so far, what do you think? Have a favourite?

Pottery Barn Stafford Table

Hopefully I’ll have a more exciting update next week – wish us luck!
