My modern powder room refresh is done! This wasn’t a huge project, but some small changes have really made a big impact!
Five years ago (after we first moved in) mum and I spent an afternoon giving this bathroom some personality by hanging some beadboard wallpaper and painting the upper half of the wall.
Fast forward to this year and it was time to make some additional improvements – painting the beadboard wallpaper and replacing the “builder basic” fixtures including the mirror and faucet.
I am very grateful to my sponsors for this project Liberty Hardware and Crates and Pallet who provided some accessories for our new bathroom!
The design of this powder room is no longer pure beach house and instead reflects our unique mix of modern/coastal/traditional/boho. I am absolutely in love with the new dark green wall paint which was colour matched to Sherwin Williams SW 7062 Rock Bottom.
I speculated in the post I wrote about how our beadboard wallpaper has held up that it might be more durable if it was painted. Well, I can confirm that it is much more scratch resistant and easier to clean now that it’s been painted. I used a semi-gloss door and trim paint in Behr Swiss Coffee to match the rest of the trim in the space.
Replacing the ceramic and plastic accessories our builder had installed with attractive oil rubbed bronze ones instantly improved the look of the entire room. Liberty Hardware was kind enough to provide me with the Delta Crestfield Toilet Paper Holder and the Delta Crestfield 18 in. Grab Bar.
To coordinate with our new accessories, I also picked up a new faucet which Chris was nice enough to help me install (it turns out replacing the drain in a pedestal sink is…complicated.
I also found a new Round wood mirror and a black and gold garbage can from HomeSense.
To display a few small touches I installed a small shelf above the toilet using these fun gold brackets from Crates and Pallet.
Did you notice that small wood stool in front of the window? It also helps to protect the wallpaper from claw marks by giving our cats an easy perch when they need to see what’s happening outside.
It sure looks different! Very smart. Love those gold brackets.
