This month I’m very excited to be participating in the $100 room makeover for the first time and that our laundry room will be getting a makeover!
Our laundry room is a pretty good size (6’ x 5’) and when we first moved in we threw some shelves up on the wall and called it a day. Let’s just say this organization “system” isn’t quite working because the laundry has become a dumping ground and currently looks like this:
Do you know how long I contemplated sharing that photo? OMG. So embarrassing. But, hey just keeping it real.
As I do 75% of the laundry right now I’d like this room to be WAY more organized and, even though Chris thinks I’m nuts, at least a little bit pretty (is that so wrong?). To get the most out of the space I’ve got a few ideas floating around in my head. This is the mood board I’ve created for the project:
I’d like to flip the door so that it opens out into the hallway instead of into the room. Right now the door takes up so much space and you have to close yourself in to get access to the dryer (cue nightmares of being trapped in the laundry room forever). I’d also love to be able to add a glass insert to our door because a) it’s cute and b) you’d be able to see if anyone was on the other side if the door is open in the hall. Here’s one I love the look of:

I’m not 100% sure if that will possible with a $100 budget so I’m putting a pin in that for now.
I want to stack our washer and dryer. A kit came with our machines that we’ve never used and I think we finally should. I’d then add a countertop next to the machines for folding. I really like the style of this table by Twelve on Main:

Above the counter I hope to build some wall cabinets or shelving to hold cleaning supplies and other miscellaneous things. I like the idea of something like this that I can build out of plywood and then paint:

I also have some bead board wallpaper leftover from our powder room project. I’d love to use it somewhere but I’m not quite sure where yet. Here are some of the laundry rooms I love that are inspiring my makeover:

I’m heading off to the Haven Conference later this month so I have to work quickly – I’ve already managed to clean out the space so we have a complete blank slate to work with!
What do you think? Four weeks and $100 – new laundry room here we come!
I look forward to seeing this! I love your mood board!!!! Happy to be joining in on the fun!
Haha, my laundry room is similar! Can’t wait to watch this one so I can get inspired!
Inspired me to redo my laundry room also.

I love that you shared your before picture! That’s what my laundry room looks like too so don’t feel bad. ? And I totally agree that a room you spend so much time in should be pretty. Can’t wait to see how you do it!
Good luck I can’t wait to see what you do!!! I love all of your inspiration photos and I wish I could join you at Haven!
Love your mood board and your plans. Especially that light fixture!
